Privacy Policy

In one sentence

We barely collect anything, and we'd rather not.

Who we are

The serious bit

This website is run by Lovelace Labs Limited ("we", "us"), the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact us at [email protected].

What we collect

The serious bit

This website has no contact form, accounts, analytics or advertising trackers. If you email us at [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.

The DO NOT PRESS button

The serious bit

When you press the button, the website sends the name of the surprise that appeared and the press count to an AI service, which writes a short "lab report". No name, email address or anything you have typed is sent.

To stop the button being overused, your IP address is held briefly in our server's memory for a few seconds and is not stored or used for anything else. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and protecting the website.

Why we use it

The serious bit

We use emails only to read and reply to your enquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence.

How long we keep it

The serious bit

We keep correspondence only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and then delete it.

Who else sees it

The serious bit

We do not sell or share your personal information. Our hosting provider and email provider process data on our behalf to run the website and our inbox. They may process technical information such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and secure the site.

Your rights

The serious bit

Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, ask us to restrict its use, or object to its use. Email [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

The serious bit

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last changed.
